This posting is for 2 positions. This temporary position is located at 2090 US Highway 70, Swannanoa - Buncombe County, with the Department of Environmental Quality/Water Resources. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $22.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). The Environmental Technician I position is responsible for implementation and sampling support for the WNC Recreational Monitoring Program.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting field monitoring and sampling activities for the program.
  • Providing quality assurance/quality control for all data collected in accordance with Division procedures.
  • Training sampling staff from partnership organizations and coordinating sampling programs.
  • Assisting with data management and data entry.
  • Assisting with the preparation of reports related to the program, which may include maps, figures, text, etc.
  • Conducting program outreach.
  • Developing GIS applications to convey program data to the public.
  • Providing lab assistance as needed.
  • Assisting with development of dPCR technology.
