About The Position
The University of Northern Iowa is seeking candidates for the position of Environmental Systems Mechanic Trainee, Environmental Systems Mechanic I, Environmental Systems Mechanic II, and Environmental Systems Mechanic III. Under direct supervision, the Environmental Systems Mechanic Trainee will receive work experience and training to develop the necessary skills to perform at the journey level upon completion of the training program. This includes installing, repairing, altering, replacing, and maintaining components of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating equipment. The Environmental Systems Mechanic I will perform skilled work in these areas under direct supervision. The Environmental Systems Mechanic II will work under general supervision and utilize computerized building environmental automation systems to ensure system reliability. The Environmental Systems Mechanic III will perform advanced skilled work, including evaluating and recommending system optimization changes, and will utilize computerized control systems for performance analysis.
