About The Position

The position involves completing daily cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas. The role requires a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles, safe chemical use, and equipment handling. The individual must adhere to safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines while promoting a culture of safety. Participation in departmental performance improvement initiatives is expected, focusing on enhancing patient experience and cleanliness metrics. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment, as well as proper waste disposal in accordance with established procedures. Infection prevention practices must be followed, including cleaning protocols, hand hygiene, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The role requires adherence to patient privacy requirements under HIPAA.

Requirements

• No specific education required.
• Ability to distinguish between levels of disinfection and perform low and intermediate level disinfection.
• Ability to explain the differences between levels of disinfection.
• Ability to operate necessary equipment/machines.
• Effective use of computers and mobile devices.
• Ability to work without close supervision.

Responsibilities

• Remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal areas, identifying proper waste stream handling.
