About The Position

The position involves completing daily cleaning and disinfection tasks in patient care areas, equipment, and common areas. The role requires a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles, safe chemical use, and equipment handling. Adherence to safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines is essential, as is participation in departmental performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience and cleanliness metrics. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleaning carts and supplies, proper waste disposal, following infection prevention practices, and adhering to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).

Requirements

• No specific education required.
• Ability to distinguish between levels of disinfection and perform low and intermediate level disinfection.
• Ability to explain the differences between levels of disinfection.
• Ability to operate necessary equipment/machines.
• Effective use of computers and mobile devices.
• Ability to work without close supervision.

• High School GED - General Studies.
• Previous healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas.
• Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
• Adhere to organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines.
• Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment.
• Remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal areas, identifying proper waste stream handling.
• Follow infection prevention practices, including cleaning protocols and PPE usage.
• Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
