JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Environmental Services Manager in administering and monitoring the Environmental Services program of the Nursing Home. Ensures that Nursing Home is maintained in a sanitary, attractive and orderly condition in accordance with regulatory agencies, standards, procedures and code requirements. Reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager:
Requirements
- EDUCATION: High school graduate of GED equivalency. Environmental management courses preferred.
- EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years’ experience of institutional housekeeping supervision required.
- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to demonstrate and educate housekeeping staff in the use of all equipment.
Responsibilities
- Must have a working knowledge of all environmental services / housekeeping / laundry procedures, and equipment
- Assist the manager overseeing the all aspects of the store room as needed
- Must be able to communicate with management, supervisors and departments served
- Willing to be flexible with scheduled days and shifts as needed
- Responsible for training & in-servicing new employees and re-training existing staff
- Assist the manager with annual evaluations
- Assist the manager with scheduling and coverage during emergency situations
- Responsible for opening and closing units as needed
- Work regular assignments along with the EVS staff
- Be available during emergencies
- Observe quality of work being done and advise staff and management of deficiencies and be able to perform on site in-services when needed
- Submit written reports as needed
- Assist with the Haz Mat Program
- Have a working knowledge of all pertinent outside contractors including exterminating and medical waste
- Report any unsafe conditions if it cannot be immediately addressed
