About The Position

This Environmental Analyst position implements DEN’s environmental and sustainability programs for operational compliance and contributes to their continuous improvement. Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Prepares timely and comprehensive National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews for development projects to meet federal, state, and local requirements. While this position is expected to primarily develop NEPA Categorical Exclusions (CATEXs) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the position may also assist with developing technical studies and environmental documentation to support Environmental Assessments (EAs) developed for FAA and the Federal Highways Administration (FHWA). Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on the ISI Envision framework for sustainable infrastructure. Advises to what extent a DEN project should utilize the Envision framework (e.g., self-assessment versus ISI verification), what credits should be pursued, and reviews and comments on project specific Envision documentation. Monitors DEN development projects for the right time to influence positive environmental and sustainability outcomes. Builds effective working relationships with DEN Project Managers to identify when environmental and sustainability technical assistance, education and training is needed on a project to promote compliance and advance positive environmental outcomes and provides that assistance. Contributes scientific and regulatory expertise in assigned technical areas, including those related to FAA’s general conformity obligations, wetlands, threatened and endangered species, archaeological and cultural resources, and USGBC LEED. Serves as a SME on environmental aspects of DEN’s operations. Contributes expertise to DEN’s sustainability and environmental programs including an Environmental Management System (EMS) that is certified to ISO Standard 14001:2015. Monitors, reports, and verifies environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives of facility development projects at DEN. Develops and provides technical assistance, education and training on assigned areas of expertise. Assists facility development projects to avoid and/or mitigate impacts from hazardous substances, including environmental contaminants such as PFAS. Develops basic understanding of technical areas assigned to other team members, including CAA, CWA, RCRA, UST, SPCC, to support other team members as necessary. Learns to and assists with engagement with numerous and diverse internal and external stakeholders.
