About The Position

The Environmental & Sustainability Project Manager resides in the Facilities Management Department within the Operations Division of the Boston Public Schools, and reports to the Assistant Director of Planning, Engineering, Sustainability, and Environment. The Environmental & Sustainability Project Manager will manage capital, renovation, and operational Environmental Projects, including large scale sustainability, air quality, lead, waste, and energy efficiency projects, to improve BPS building environmental quality and sustainable building features. The Project Manager will: Work with Architects to develop upgrades and renovations in conjunction with systems and building upgrades (HVAC, IAQ, Lead, waste, energy, building materials, etc.); Develop Capital Upgrades and plan for school environmental and sustainability upgrades; Work with the City of Boston Public Facilities Department on similar project scopes as the BPS Sustainability, Energy, and Environment project liaison; Manage waste systems related to regulated waste; Help to bring BPS building health up to 21st century standards in coordination with fellow Facilities and Capital Planning project managers as well as City, state, and federal partners on new initiatives; Assist in research, policy development, grant searching, grant writing, and sustainability and environmental communications within the Facilities Management department; Assist with Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Program budget management; Track metrics related to indoor environmental quality and building health, BPS sustainability/Green New Deal for BPS, and KPIs easily referenced by national standards.
