About The Position

The Environmental Specialist at ISP Technologies Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and managing waste programs at the Texas City plant. This position involves leading various environmental initiatives, conducting investigations, and providing training to personnel, all while collaborating with different departments to achieve environmental compliance goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a chemical plant environment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and permitting procedures.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals from various levels and departments.
  • Strong problem resolution skills and ability to develop action plans.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during site emergencies and evacuate safely.
  • Capable of wearing personal protective equipment as required.
  • Physical ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift equipment up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with environmental management systems such as RC 14001.
  • Familiarity with industry environmental committees and associations.

Responsibilities

  • Leads plant waste programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company requirements.
  • Leads plant wastewater and stormwater programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Manages environmental permitting processes related to waste, wastewater, and stormwater.
  • Oversees the Underground Injection Control (UIC) program to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Assists Corporate Remediation Group with site remediation programs.
  • Directs investigations related to compliance violations and uses root cause analysis methodology.
  • Collects and analyzes environmental samples, interprets findings, and develops corrective actions.
  • Provides environmental regulatory training to personnel as necessary.
  • Assists with plant maintenance, startup, and shutdown permit compliance.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure compliance and achieve environmental goals.
  • Keeps Environmental Manager informed on regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Manages the submission of reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in internal and external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Develops and implements analysis of environmental performance metrics.
  • Communicates with local, state, and federal agencies regarding environmental matters.
  • Represents the plant on industry environmental committees and associations.
  • Supervises recordkeeping related to waste, wastewater, stormwater, and UIC.
  • Coordinates EHS Management System initiatives and supervises environmental technician.
  • Develops and participates in environmental initiatives to improve compliance and programs.
