About The Position

The Environmental Specialist II will support environmental regulatory compliance projects at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM, ensuring adherence to various environmental regulations. This role involves collaboration with specialists to address environmental issues, conducting sampling, and communicating scientific information effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field.
• Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in a related role.
• Demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow instructions/schedules/timelines, and handle multiple priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, clients, and outside business associates.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, managers, staff, and plant operational personnel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, make decisions, solve problems, exercise good judgment, and prioritize workload.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and Word.

Nice To Haves

• Current OSHA HAZWOPER certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to hazardous waste, universal waste, used oil, drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, air quality, and groundwater.
• Collaborate with environmental specialists, planners, hazardous waste technicians, engineers, and other specialists to address environmental problems.
• Conduct sampling of various environmental media and assist with data interpretation and reporting.
• Communicate scientific and regulatory information to clients, peers, and other site personnel through oral briefings, written documents, and formal meetings.
• Participate in field efforts as needed to support the successful execution of projects.
• Evaluate analytical laboratory data and draw conclusions and make recommendations under the guidance of the Project Manager.
• Prepare, review, and update technical reports.
