About The Position

The Environmental Air Permitting Specialist’s primary responsibility is to assist with the preparation, review, and submittal of various state and federal air permitting projects as needed to ensure compliance with all State, Federal and corporate regulations, policies and procedures. This position is responsible for being aware and knowledgeable, providing guidance, and coordinating with key personnel to help maintain compliance with existing, new, and modified State, Federal, and corporate regulations, policies, and procedures at Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas. Secondary tasks may include: performing routine engineering tasks using standard procedures; providing reporting services as needed; performing inspections of the facility and / or audits of unit air permitting compliance manuals.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in environmental permitting and/or compliance within industrial, manufacturing, or operations environments preferred.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, curious and eager to learn.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Willingness to be accountable for areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to develop or deliver environmental training and support operational teams.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and regulatory reporting requirements (local, state, federal).
  • Safety awareness and knowledge of workplace environmental, health, and safety practices.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously while collaborating with multiple contacts and resources in order to meet goals and achieve optimal results.
  • B.S. Degree in one of the engineering disciplines or environmental sciences with 6 years of direct job-related experience preferred; Associates with 8 years of direct job-related experience; Or High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years of direct job-related experience required.
  • Personal computer, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. AutoCAD is a plus.

  • Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
  • Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Environmental Permitting / Compliance: Provides technical air permitting support to FPC TX complex. Interacts with multiple contract permitting engineers, toxicologists, air modelers, TCEQ Permit Reviewers, and managers as needed. Support implementation of Environmental programs that provide methods of compliance for the operating units individually and the facility as a whole including compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company safety, health, and security programs/ practices in line with corporate and site goals/objectives.
  • Leadership and Development: Help provide guidance and regulatory interpretations to compliance and plant operation personnel. Collaborate with environmental and unit personnel for continued development of Environmental Competency throughout the organization. Utilize internal and external resources to foster teamwork, develop workable solutions, and optimize/positively impact departmental and company goals and results, in line with permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Initiate Action and Function as the Critical Liaison: Determine maintenance, operations, and other support needs through interaction and provide permitting support to meet corporate objectives/goals. Facilitate regulatory compliance through permitting support for corrective actions, to help maintain compliance, and for special projects as needed.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Execute assigned responsibilities, activities, and tasks in a manner protective of the environment so as to prevent/minimize environmental releases/emissions/issues, in line with corporate and site goals/objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
