About The Position

The Environmental Services Worker cleans patient rooms and general spaces throughout the health system facilities following safe work practices and infection control procedures. This role works to maintain all designated areas are kept in optimal cleaning standards according to established disinfection and sterilization guidelines and practices.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate floor care equipment safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper handling procedures.

  • Proven ability to read and write and understand oral instructions and safety signage.

  • Demonstrated ability to use a phone/paging system for cleaning assignments.
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred.

  • Previous experience in floor care or janitorial services preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Strip, wax, and refinish hard surface floors using appropriate chemicals and equipment.
  • Operate floor care machines such as auto scrubbers, burnishers, and buffers.
  • Inspect floors for cleanliness and safety; report any damage or hazards.
  • Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and report any malfunctions.
  • Work collaboratively with Environmental Services team to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
  • Respond to emergency clean-up requests as needed.
  • Maintain supply inventory and notify supervisor when stock is low.
  • Performs cleaning and sanitizing activities in designated areas including patient rooms, bathrooms, and common spaces throughout the health system facilities.
  • Maintains flooring care including cleaning, buffing, and applying floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors; vacuums, shampoos and extracts carpets.
  • Uses and maintains power equipment and hand tools such as buffers, auto brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
  • Provides waste collection and removal including biomedical waste, recycling, cleaning trash chutes and receptacles.
  • Mixes and obtains cleaning solutions from dispensing systems; follows appropriate cleaning methods and uses the correct solutions and equipment for different surfaces.
  • Restocks cleaning supplies and various other items such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.
  • Carries out bed tracking tasks, as needed.
  • Reports any maintenance or repair needs to management.
