About The Position

The Environmental Services Worker performs assigned cleaning tasks and sanitation requests, including but not limited to, general daily cleaning and floor care for the agency. This position takes direction and guidance from the Environmental Service Lead. This is a part-time (25 hours/week), Monday-Friday position on an 8:30am-1:30pm schedule.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Environmental Services or related field required
  • Unrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards preferred.
  • Understanding of cleaning and sanitation practices to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to interact with customers and coworkers respectfully and professionally, responding to service requests or concerns promptly.
  • Ability to clean and maintain facilities to a high standard, identifying areas that require attention.
  • Must be able to work a variable scheduling including evenings and weekends
  • Occasional sitting (up to 4 hours)
  • Occasional standing (up to 1 hour)
  • Occasional walking (up to 2.5 hours)
  • Occasional driving (up to 8 hours)
  • Continuous balancing (up to 8 hours)
  • Occasional balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching forward or down, reaching overhead, running, and twisting (up to 2.5 hours)
  • Weekly lifting up to 50 lbs., 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis
  • Weekly carrying up to 55 lbs. approximately 10-100 ft., 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis
  • Manual dexterity is required, including the frequent ability to grasp in both hands and continuous use of fine manipulation skills in both hands (approximately 1-2.5 hrs.)
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, gases or chemicals is apparent.
  • Protective clothing or equipment required: Close toed shoes; Protective Shields, Universal Precaution PPE, Gloves for toileting and food preparation
  • Ability to change positions as needed

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness of bathrooms, bedrooms and offices by performing general cleaning tasks on a daily basis.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  • Gather, remove, and empty trash and recycling.
  • Replenish soap and paper products in bathrooms.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
  • Complete special projects which may include stripping and waxing floors, extracting dirt and debris from carpets, and steam cleaning or shampooing carpets following procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Sanitize bedrooms and bathrooms when clients are discharged.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Notify the Supervisor Environmental Services concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks.
  • While this job description covers many aspects of the role, employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
