About The Position

An Environmental Services Worker is an ancillary employee who, under the direct supervision of the Environmental Supervisor, performs manual housekeeping duties in an orderly and sanitary manner for the purpose of maintaining the Hospital facilities in a clean, sanitary, orderly and attractive condition, to provide a suitable environment for the care of patients, visitors and for the work of the Hospital staff. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum Experience: Ability to speak, read and write basic English.
  • Able to follow instructions.
  • Position will primarily be light work requiring lifting up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching is required.
  • Requires 100% standing or walking.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word is required.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a housekeeping or custodial position preferred, but not required.
