About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician at Howard Community College is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing various cleaning tasks and following specific guidelines to ensure effective environmental services within the college's facilities. The technician will work primarily during the night shift and is expected to contribute to the college's sustainability initiatives.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• One year of institutional or commercial housekeeping experience preferred.
• Knowledge of housekeeping chemicals and equipment and their operation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floors and carpets by vacuuming, sweeping, wet mopping, and dry mopping.
• Wash walls, doors, partitions, windows, chalkboards, and trash cans.
• Wipe down all metal surfaces.
• Set classrooms back to their original settings after use.
• Prepare items for recycling.
• Dust walls, furniture, and computer keyboards.
• Perform detail cleaning weekly, including blinds, ledges, cabinets, and vents.
• Clean and re-supply restrooms, including urinal cartridges.
• Clean steps in stairwells.
• Communicate with clients to build good working relationships and understand specific needs.
• Report minor repair requests in assigned areas.
• Dress tables for college events.
• Keep supply and wet closets organized and clean.
• Maintain a daily written schedule of activities performed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
