About The Position

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE To provide a safe, sanitary, orderly, and attractive environment for patients, hospital employees and visitors. Responsible for repetitive tasks in routine cleaning and special assignments in designated areas and other assigned areas. Full-time, benefited position working 80 hours per two week pay period. Days of work are Monday - Friday. Hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm with one weekend a month and on call rotation. Holiday work as needed JOB FUNCTIONS Interacts with patients of all age groups (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, pediatrics) while performing duties. Cleans patient's rooms, corridors, service areas, lounges, offices and assigned areas. Cleans and makes up discharged or transferred patient units. Cleans rest rooms and replenishes essentials. Cleans stairwells, elevators and baseboards. Collects linen and disposes of trash to designated area. Performs tasks as assigned on cleaning schedules including; washing walls, washing windows, cleaning drapes, blinds, refrigerators, etc. Washes IV stands, wheelchairs, instruments carts, utensils, etc. with germicidal solutions and transport to proper area. Moves equipment and furniture for cleaning and rearrangement. Operates various types of cleaning equipment. Cleans work area and equipment at the end of the shift. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Must be able to follow oral or written orders.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule.
  • Work is performed independently. Employees must use his or her judgement to plan and carry out their work in situations where methods and procedures are established.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the major requirements of this position can be met.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous institutional housekeeping experience desirable.
