About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician performs housekeeping and laundry duties in a fitness center, ensuring established cleanliness standards are met. This includes cleaning furniture, equipment, sanitizing areas, and managing trash. The role involves cleaning various public and office areas, operating laundry equipment, sorting and stocking towels, and maintaining inventory. The technician is expected to be a team player, uphold core values, and work both independently and collaboratively to maintain a high level of cleanliness in the fitness center. They are also responsible for chemical storage and safety, responding to emergency clean-ups, moving light furniture, cleaning glass, and setting up for events, while communicating maintenance needs and adhering to safety precautions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of laundry equipment
  • 6 months institutional cleaning experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs housekeeping/laundry duties in our fitness center in accordance with established cleanliness standards.
  • Cleans furniture and equipment.
  • Sanitizes required areas.
  • Collects/disposes of trash.
  • Responsible for cleaning assigned areas including public areas and offices to established policies and procedures.
  • Operates laundry equipment.
  • Sorts soiled towels.
  • Delivers and stocks towels.
  • Maintains inventory.
  • Cleans, mops and sanitizes hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas so that health standards are met.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and equipment, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
  • Empty wastebaskets, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
  • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  • Works independently and as a team to accomplish tasks and ensure the fitness center is kept at a high level of cleanliness.
  • Interacts with other departments when necessary to enhance work flow.
  • Responsible for cleanliness and storage of chemicals in locked compartment and custody of assigned keys.
  • Knows where to obtain information regarding chemicals, follows direction in use and care of chemicals and equipment.
  • Responds to emergency clean-ups.
  • Moves light furniture.
  • Cleans glass.
  • Sets up for meetings, special events and other tasks as required.
  • Communicates with supervisor conditions needing maintenance.
  • Adheres to all safety precautions and reports to supervisor or appropriate personnel, any unsafe conditions.
