About The Position

Children's Mercy is a top pediatric hospital in Kansas City, recognized for eleven consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report. The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining all hospital facilities in a clean and sanitary manner according to established policies and procedures, under the guidance of a Manager. This role also involves completing special procedures as assigned. Children’s Mercy values kindness, curiosity, inclusion, team, and integrity, and strives for a diverse workforce. As a condition of employment, employees are required to receive the seasonal influenza vaccine and must be willing to be vaccinated for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) if non-immune, and have evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. Medical and/or religious exemptions can be discussed with Human Resources.

  • Ability to read & comprehend instructions and product labels.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains floors in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all areas of the hospital property.
  • Required to handle hazardous waste, general waste and soiled linens to transport throughout the hospital facility to collection site for contractual removal.
  • Maintains areas in an aesthetically pleasing and orderly fashion.
  • Operates cleaning equipment and checks for proper function. Maintains cleanliness of equipment.
