About The Position

An Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within the hospital. This role includes cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms, common areas, and clinical spaces to prevent the spread of infection. Technicians follow strict safety and infection-control procedures, handle waste disposal (including biohazard materials), restock cleaning supplies, and operate specialized cleaning equipment. They work closely with nursing and clinical staff to support patient care, ensure rooms are prepared efficiently, and help create a comfortable, hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and hospital employees. This opportunity is open for the day shift 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday - Friday with a rotating Saturday schedule.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • One month related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare’s Mission, Vision and Values.

  • Cleans all areas of hospital, including but not limited to: offices, patient rooms, utility room, surgery areas, outpatient areas, conference rooms, store rooms, waiting areas, dining room, etc.
  • Performs dusting, wiping and/or washing of furniture, beds, walls, windows, doors, ledges, sinks, mirrors, toilets, stainless steel, etc.
  • Vacuums carpets, spot check and cleans carpet when needed; dust mops and wet mop floors.
  • Scrubs vinyl flooring with floor scrubber and cleans grout.
  • Uses steam cleaner in areas as needed.
  • Gathers trash, replaces liner in trash can, fold liners to make ready for distribution.
  • Supplies patient, public restrooms, utility rooms and all other areas with hospital approved trash liners, toilet paper, paper towels, odor eliminating sprays, mops, disinfectant, sharps containers, soap and hand sanitizer.
  • Checks supplies for out dates
  • Practices good infection control measures according to the hospital infection control policy and procedure, in cleaning of isolation rooms.
  • Biannual, quarterly and monthly cleaning is done per policy and procedure.
  • Follows fire and disaster plan in the event of an actual fire, disaster or drill.
  • Puts in request to maintenance when attention is required.
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
