About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in environmental services, housekeeping, or healthcare sanitation preferred.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and biohazard waste handling.
  • Ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to perform each essential function duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times in all situations and follow the laws and intent of the most current HIPAA laws and regulations and Canyonlands’ security and privacy policies.

  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish/Navajo) language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Wear gloves at all times when cleaning a room, regardless of contact with blood or body fluids.
  • Perform daily cleaning of floors, bathrooms, and patient contact areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
  • Clean blood spills using approved disinfectants and disposable cloths or rags, ensuring proper disposal of contaminated materials in laundry bags.
  • Use gowns, masks, and gloves when working with biohazardous materials or infectious diseases to prevent contamination.
  • Change mop water and clean mops after completing cleaning in each room to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Follow instructions provided for cleaning rooms after patient use, ensuring thorough sanitation.
  • Properly dispose of biohazard waste in designated red bags, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of infection control procedures and report any safety concerns or hazards.
