About The Position

Position Summary: The Environmental Services Technician ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing routine and specialized cleaning tasks in patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas of the hospital. Essential Job Functions: Clean and service patient rooms, offices, hallways, and all inpatient/outpatient areas. Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment; sweep and dust-mop floors. Wet mop rooms, corridors, stairways, and public spaces. Empty trash, remove waste and soiled linens, and ensure proper disposal. Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including fixtures, floors, mirrors, and high-touch surfaces. Refill soap, towels, and other supplies. Clean windows, glass, vents, and light fixtures. Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mechanical floor scrubbers, buffers, and polishers. Strip, wax, buff, and polish floors as assigned. Perform terminal cleaning of patient rooms and prepare spaces for new occupants. Follow all isolation and infection-control procedures. Assist with hanging, removing, and transporting curtains and privacy dividers. Shampoo carpets and upholstered furniture when needed. Move furniture and equipment for cleaning, room setup, or special events. Set up and tear down tables/chairs for meetings or events. Perform other duties as assigned to support the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous environmental services, housekeeping, or custodial experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to follow safety, infection control, and isolation procedures.
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals safely.
