About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment within our facilities. This position ensures that all patient care areas, public spaces, and support areas meet rigorous sanitation and infection control standards to protect patients, staff, and visitors. The technician is responsible for the effective cleaning, disinfecting, and waste management processes that support the overall healthcare delivery system. By adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines, the technician helps prevent the spread of infections and contributes to a positive patient experience. This role requires attention to detail, consistency, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of environmental hygiene in a dynamic healthcare setting. This position is part time, 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting procedures, especially in healthcare environments.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols.
  • Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Prior experience in environmental services or janitorial work is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and healthcare safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, waiting areas, and other healthcare facility spaces according to established protocols.
  • Handle and dispose of medical and hazardous waste safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning agents effectively while adhering to safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate department.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure minimal disruption to patient care and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
