About The Position

Under the supervision of the Clinical Services Environmental Services Manager, job incumbent will provide lead housekeeping duties at the Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center and other buildings as needed during nights and weekend shifts. Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License and remain insurable under TCC insurance policy.
• Two years' experience in Housekeeping preferred.
• Experience with floor cleaning maintenance, such as stripping and waxing and heavy extraction carpet cleaning.
• Medical facility cleaning experience preferred.
• Must be eighteen (18) years old or older.
• Must pass background check pursuant to Alaska DHSS and federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures, drinking centers, hand washing areas, trash containers and lids, doorknobs, all stainless steel, walls, exam rooms and all other surfaces prone to harbor communicable diseases; refills, paper and soap dispensers.
• Provides on the job training for new employees with regard to every phase of their job, which includes equipment and chemical usage.
• Provides continuing training using on the job coaching methods for current employees.
• Inspect all assigned areas frequently to ensure that individual and building inspections meet service level quality standards.
• Must be able to plan and perform major cleaning operations, supervising assigned work projects, and coordinate major cleaning projects with the manager.
• Provides some work direction to Environmental Services staff.
• The incumbent is accountable for the completions of assigned duties with a minimum level of supervision.
• Must be able to work nights, evenings, weekends, overtime and holidays.
• Performs general cleaning tasks such as but not limited to trash/recycling/biohazard removal, dusting, wet wiping, glass cleaning, vacuuming, polishing and mopping, waxing and stripping.
• Outside garbage pick-up and disposal.
• Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes bathrooms which include toilets, sinks, floors and furniture.
• Adds and performs sections of 'Detail Cleaning' such as wiping ceiling vents, high/low dusting, wiping and cleaning mirrors, window sills, stainless steel, door panels, exam tables, display cases and break area tables.
• Wiping furniture and equipment throughout the building, edge vacuuming and baseboard cleaning.
• Thoroughly cleans break room surfaces to include counters, tables, sinks, floors, chairs and other furniture.
• Performs basic equipment care, checks for wear and damage on assigned equipment.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Deep cleaning of exam rooms and other areas as needed or required.
• Must stay current and knowledgeable on proper disinfection practices and infection control requirements by following DSH standards and techniques for infection reduction.
• Performs light and heavy extraction carpet cleaning and scrubbing of safety flooring using automated equipment.
• Performs stripping and waxing of floors using automated equipment.
• Keeps paper and chemical supplies stored in work rooms neat and organized.
• Work with department management team to ensure adequate supply of products and chemicals are readily available for staff use.
• Orders and replenishes janitorial type supplies in all areas, such as hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
• Follows the rules and intent of the department's regulations and safety guidelines.
• Maintain Safety Data Sheet records for cleaning products and chemicals.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned.
