About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician II position is located in Arlington Heights, IL, and is a part-time role requiring 20 weekly hours. The working hours are mid-shift from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays required. The technician will report to the Environmental Services Manager and is responsible for performing daily cleaning of patient rooms and ancillary areas according to departmental and corporate standards. This includes isolation and terminal cleaning of rooms, ensuring that customer service quality standards are met and maintained by the Environmental Services Department.

Requirements

  • Prefer high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous hospital experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the correct use of body mechanics.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Communication skills necessary to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Organizational skills necessary to coordinate, prioritize, and accomplish multiple work assignments.
  • Ability to work on call and overtime when necessary, including all holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily patient room and ancillary area cleaning in assigned areas per departmental and corporate standards.
  • Cleans isolation/terminal rooms and patient discharges, including negative pressure/airborne rooms, as assigned.
  • Cleans any equipment used in patient rooms and ancillary areas.
  • Ensures housekeeping cart and equipment are clean and orderly on a daily basis.
  • Utilizes and mixes cleaning chemicals in a cost-effective and safe manner, following all instructions and safety specifications.
  • Maintains adequate supplies of paper products, hand soap, seat covers, sanitary napkins, and sharps containers in assigned areas.
  • Removes and replaces all full sharps.
  • May access secured medication storage locations to perform job-related functions.
  • Provides a positive customer service environment by promoting teamwork and a positive work attitude.
  • Communicates daily with the manager to ensure information exchange and resolution of concerns.
  • Observes and reports any equipment, furniture, fixtures, carpet, curtains, and walls in need of repair.
