About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in assigned areas of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. This position involves cleaning and disinfecting various surfaces, operating cleaning equipment, and ensuring a safe and orderly environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The role requires adherence to established procedures and policies, including infection control measures and customer service standards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Ability to operate small electrical equipment such as vacuum cleaners.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect assigned areas including patient rooms, offices, and common areas using appropriate cleaning solutions.
• Operate cleaning equipment following department procedures.
• Maintain work areas in an orderly, clean, and safe condition.
• Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction by exceeding expectations.
• Utilize AIDET with internal and external customers.
• Identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively.
• Thoroughly clean and sanitize rooms after patient discharges.
• Select and transport appropriate cleaning materials and supplies.
• Collect and dispose of waste according to established procedures.
• Prepare cleaning solutions according to established formulas.
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment as needed.
• Attend mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and inservices.
• Maintain proper attendance and punctuality.
