About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician I position is a full-time role at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, located in Downers Grove, IL. The technician will work the 1st shift, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. The primary responsibility is to clean and disinfect assigned areas within the hospital, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The role requires adherence to established cleaning procedures and safety regulations, as well as a commitment to customer satisfaction and professional growth.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Ability to operate small electrical equipment such as vacuum cleaners.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and comprehending chemical labels and safety materials.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect assigned areas including patient rooms, offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, elevators, and stairwells using appropriate cleaning solutions.
• Operate various cleaning equipment following department procedures.
• Maintain work areas in an orderly, clean, and safe condition.
• Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction by exceeding customer expectations.
• Utilize AIDET with both internal and external customers.
• Identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively.
• Thoroughly wash and sanitize beds and rooms after patient discharges.
• Select and transport appropriate cleaning materials and supplies to work areas.
• Collect and sanitize waste and garbage containers.
• Prepare cleaning solutions according to established formulas.
• Move equipment and furniture for cleaning and rearrangement.
• Collect and distribute soiled and clean linens as required.
• Attend mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and inservices.
• Maintain proper attendance and punctuality.
