About The Position

Beloit Health System is looking to add an EVS Technician to our Team! The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitized healthcare environment that supports infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. This role plays a key part in upholding the hospital's commitment to excellence in patient care and satisfaction by adhering to high standards of cleanliness in patient care areas, public spaces, and administrative offices. Performs daily cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing of patient rooms, procedure areas, restrooms, offices, and public areas in accordance with hospital infection prevention and environmental standards. Utilizes hospital-approved cleaning agents and equipment, following manufacturer's instructions and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines. Safely handles, removes, and disposes of general waste, regulated medical waste, and sharps containers. Cleans and maintains flooring including vacuuming, sweeping, dry/wet mopping, and spot cleaning carpets and upholstery. Dusts, wipes, and disinfects all horizontal and vertical surfaces, including high-touch areas (e.g., bed rails, door handles, light switches). Restocks supplies such as paper towels, soap, sanitizer, and toilet tissue as needed. Always adheres to proper hand hygiene and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols. Performs terminal cleaning in discharge and isolation rooms, ensuring compliance with infection prevention protocols. Cleans glass, windows, and mirrors, maintaining a streak-free finish. Operates EVS equipment such as vacuums, scrubbers, and chemical dispensing systems safely and effectively. Documents cleaning tasks and follows departmental procedures for quality assurance. Follows isolation precautions and environmental guidelines for contact, droplet, airborne, and enhanced precautions as directed. Other duties as assigned Assists with evaluation and inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Participates in departmental training, competency assessments, safety drills, and continuous improvement efforts. Reports facility issues (e.g., broken fixtures, spills, safety hazards) to appropriate departments promptly. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior healthcare housekeeping or custodial experience preferred.
  • Must complete Environmental Services onboarding and competency checklist.
  • Understanding of infection prevention principles and universal precautions.
  • Familiarity with SDS, cleaning protocols, and safe chemical handling.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Professional and courteous demeanor with a focus on patient satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift).
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. and push/pull carts up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools safely.
  • Capable of ascending and descending stairs and lifting mattresses (up to 34 lbs.) as needed.
  • Must meet hospital's pre-placement physical examination and immunization requirements.
