About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for keeping assigned areas clean, sanitary, and aseptic. This includes maintaining a neat and clean work area and equipment. The position requires working various shifts, including weekends, on-call, and holidays, with hours subject to change based on business necessity. The technician will report to the Facilities Manager and will interact with patients, families, visitors, and other hospital personnel.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Previous experience and use of common housecleaning devices is preferred
• Ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions
• Willingness to accept new work methods and suggest changes and/or additions
• Ability to clean skillfully all assigned areas and complete tasks in a reasonable time
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality
• Physical ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly

Responsibilities

• Clean and stock work cart daily
• Report unusual findings to the Supervisor
• Report items needing repair to the Supervisor
• Exhibit good ergonomic use of cleaning and other supplies
• Mix all cleaning solutions according to the formula specified
• Respond to pager system in a timely and courteous fashion
• Utilize supplies and equipment efficiently and cost effectively
• Clean and re-make a neat patient bed
• Dry and wet mop floors
• Operate electrical equipment such as vacuums, stripper-scrubber, buffer, and carpet extractor
• Properly dispose of all trash, including bio trash
• Complete and turn in daily checklist to manager
• Thoroughly and completely clean and disinfect all areas with attention to detail
• Be knowledgeable about departmental processes/procedures and able to clean all areas of the hospital including but not limited to patient rooms, surgery, OB, ER, Laboratory, Family Practice and more
• Other duties as assigned
