The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient rooms and assigned areas for Sanford Health patients, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks that the individual will be responsible for include but are not limited to; emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.

Requirements

• No formal education is required.
• Knowledge in general day-to-day housekeeping tasks in various departments/areas of the facility.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps.
• Ability to be on feet for the majority of the shift.
• Must follow the cleaning policy and procedure for each department while adhering to guidelines in the use of cleaning/sanitation chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment.
• Provide a clean and sterile environment for patients and facility staff.
• Clean patient rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
• Wear the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines.
• Keep storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
• Use technology such as pagers appropriately when needed.
• Assist in the laundry areas as appropriate.
• Fulfill the annual continuing education requirements of the department and facility.
