About The Position

Syracuse Area Health is hiring an Environmental Services Technician for benefited full-time evening/overnight shift, Monday Thru Friday (4:00 pm to 12:30 am, or 9:00 pm to 5:30am). Rotating Holidays, and no weekends. This position is responsible for keeping the Syracuse Area Health facilities clean in accordance with safety and infection control guidelines which support a safe and attractive environment for all services provided at SAH. Provide a clean, safe and friendly environment for patients, visitors and all staff in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous business/facility cleaning experience required with experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Strong customer service skills, including experience working with others in a courteous manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and utilize good time management skills
  • Customer Service Driven Professionalism/Growth
  • Basic reading and writing skills required in order to understand and use chemical labels, SDS sheets, OSHA standards, isolation procedures, written instructions and departmental policies
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times

Nice To Haves

  • Previous business/facility cleaning experience required with experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and disinfects patient, ancillary and public areas as assigned daily following established procedures
  • Operates manual, battery-powered and electric equipment such as mechanical floor cleaners and vacuums
  • Maintains and stores all equipment in a safe, sanitary manner
  • Collects, handles and disposes of designated waste streams and soiled linens in the prescribed manner
  • Completes stat and routine discharge room cleans
  • Adheres to all hospital required Safety, Risk Management and Infection Control practices
  • Provides support with the training and orientation of new employees
  • Greets and directs visitors, patients and staff
  • Provide assistance as needed
  • Attends all meetings and training sessions as required
  • Follows established hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by management
