About The Position

The Environmental Services Tech II plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of Akron Children's Hospital. This part-time position, requiring 32 hours per week, focuses on performing preventative cleaning procedures to ensure that the facility remains orderly, sanitary, and visually appealing. The technician is responsible for the safe collection and transportation of various types of waste, including infectious, solid, and recyclable materials, from designated holding areas to appropriate disposal sites such as incinerators or compactors. This role supports the overall mission and vision of Akron Children's Hospital, emphasizing the importance of a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. In this position, the Environmental Services Tech II is tasked with daily cleaning responsibilities, particularly the maintenance of floors in corridors and other assigned areas. This includes hard surface floor care, where the technician must demonstrate proficiency in applying and removing floor finishes using mechanical equipment such as side-by-side floor scrubbers. The role requires a solid understanding of cleaning techniques, solutions, and the proper use of tools and equipment to ensure high standards of cleanliness are met. Additionally, the technician is responsible for the extraction of carpets and project cleaning tasks, which may involve cleaning walls, lights, and windows. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness is essential, and the technician is expected to work efficiently to achieve high quality assurance scores. Patient and guest relations are also a key component of this role, as the technician must adhere to hospital standards and promote a positive image of Akron Children's Hospital. The position also involves terminal and cycle cleaning, which includes cleaning walls, lights, and ceilings, as well as performing regular cleaning duties such as relocating beds and cleaning stretchers and equipment. The technician must maintain equipment and storage areas in a clean and orderly condition and respond to emergency requests while observing and reporting any potential safety issues to management or the Engineering Department. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making this a dynamic and essential role within the hospital's environmental services team.
