About The Position

This position will function as a evening supervisor for the Environmental Services Department. The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that staff are supporting the night-time cleanliness needs of The Florida Aquarium (TFA). This role is responsible for supervising full-time, part-time, seasonal, and contracted Environmental Services staff; managing floorcare programs including carpet cleaning and stripping/waxing; and ensuring all assigned areas meet organizational cleanliness standards. The Environmental Services Supervisor oversees all nighttime cleaning operations to ensure the Aquarium is clean, safe, and fully prepared for the next day’s guests and staff.

Requirements

  • Previous management/supervisory experience required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in cleaning, hospitality, operations or a related field.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience interacting with guests and providing amazing customer service.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish) – a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Aquarium’s Environmental Services Area.
  • Coordinate daily operations and assigned areas to ensure that all staff assignments and schedules are in place to meet the needs of guest/team member safety and cleanliness.
  • Serve as POC for daily operations of the Environmental Services area.
  • Conduct brief daily shift meetings or “afternoon huddles” to communicate priorities and updates.
  • Plan weekly and daily operations of assigned team.
  • Approve or adjust task assignments as needed.
  • Coordinate staffing needs to accommodate unexpected special projects or staffing shortages.
  • Create and publish team members’ weekly work schedules.
  • Review staffing levels in assigned areas and make any necessary adjustments to ensure customer service expectations and goals are met.
  • Review daily operating reports (checklists, work requests, etc.) and take appropriate action as directed by the Environmental Services Manager.
  • Ensure team members are trained, prepared, and in proper uniform including name tag.
  • Train and develop all team members in all operations and guest services procedures.
  • Implement and enforce all appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Work with Environmental Services Manager on coaching employees as needed.
  • Conduct interviews and hire new employees in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Responsible for adjusting and/or approving assigned timecards for bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Conduct a full walk‑through of all areas before shift end.
  • Assist team members with assigned projects to ensure accepted standards are achieved.
  • Review and sign off on evening checklists and work requests.
  • Support special events or early‑morning programs, as needed.
  • Ensure equipment is clean and supplies are stocked.
  • Assist with inventory including identifying low‑stock supplies and submitting new supply orders.
  • Plan and supervise floor stripping and waxing according to schedule, acquiring and maintaining Knowledge of carpet extraction, stripping, waxing, and floorcare equipment.
  • Create and oversee department’s special‑projects schedule based on Aquarium needs (high dusting, cleaning baseboards, cleaning windows etc.).
  • Supports TFA’s Shared Purpose by participating in a Conservation Day of Action shift on an annual basis.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or required.
