Job Summary: Cleans all areas of the hospital according to policies and procedures. Participates in the department’s continuous quality improvement activities. Duties and Responsibilities: Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the facility and the environmental services department. Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner. Complete work assignments in a timely manner. Utilizes the appropriate chemicals, supplies and cleaning techniques according to procedure and manufacturer’s recommendations. Uses and maintains equipment properly. Observes safety precautions at all times. Uses safety signs, WET FLOOR and ropes off section of floor for cleaning where appropriate. Always introduces self to patient, families and visitors. Reports safety hazards as appropriate. Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area. Replenishes supplies, notifies the supervisor when supplies need to be ordered. Follows all infection control practices including hand hygiene techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions. Assists visitors with direction whenever requested. Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties. Works day, evening or night shift as assigned. Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision. Observes safety precautions at all times. Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out daily activity written or oral instruction. Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
