About The Position

The EVS Specialist is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in various areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, clinical and non-clinical areas, diagnostic areas, office areas, and corridors. This role involves setting up cleaning carts with the appropriate cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as completing assigned floor care projects such as mopping, sweeping, stripping, waxing, and buffing. The specialist must also ensure that all cleaning equipment is properly cleaned and stored after use, perform operator maintenance on equipment, and report any equipment needing repair or scheduled maintenance. Knowledge of spill kit use for cleaning up chemical spills, blood, and other body fluids is essential, along with proper chemical use at recommended dilution rates. The role may also require moving furniture and equipment to complete assigned projects and assisting engineering with environmental clean-ups and other off-site projects as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of floor care processes and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of floor care chemical use and proficient with floor care equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to listen and follow directions.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Prefer one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set up cleaning cart with proper cleaning chemicals and PPE.
  • Collect needed equipment and wet floor signs for tasks and projects.
  • Clean assigned patient rooms, clinical areas, non-clinical areas, diagnostic areas, office areas, and corridors.
  • Complete assigned floor care projects including mopping, sweeping, stripping, waxing, and buffing.
  • Clean and store all equipment after each use.
  • Perform operator maintenance on equipment and report equipment needing repair or scheduled maintenance.
  • Recharge equipment as necessary.
  • Use spill kits for cleaning up chemical spills, blood, and other body fluids.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and other items to complete assigned project work.
  • Store supplies in the supply room and on tower floors as assigned.
  • Assist engineering with environmental clean-ups, construction clean-ups, and other off-site projects.
