Summary Job Description: Full Time 40 weekly hours, Mid Shift Job Summary: A. Assists the Director of Environmental Services in providing quality environmental services in an efficient, cost-effective manner in accordance with regulations and standards. B. Provides training, supervision, and motivation to environmental services personnel to ensure all tasks are completed and schedules are met. C. Adheres to all state and federal regulations regarding Environmental Services, Daily operations of Environmental Services department, staffing allocation, training, scheduling, Adheres to patient safety protocols. D. Ensures that quality standards, schedule completion, and team performances are met on a daily basis. Key Accountabilities / Principle Duties: The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time: 1. Assists in the implementation of environmental services programs which are designed to provide clean, sanitary facilities. Regularly inspects completed work and completes Quality Management reports. Recommends new methods to improve overall performance. 2. Assists in the development of staffing assignments (duty lists) which will ensure efficient, cost-effective completion of cleaning and laundry tasks. Maintains accurate reports and records. 3. Assists in the recruiting, hiring, supervising and evaluating of non-supervisory and supervisory employees ensuring that standards of performance are met. Accurately completes all required forms and reports on a timely basis. 4. Assists in the orientation, development and motivation of staff, ensuring the staff is properly trained at all levels and performance standards are met. Completes all reports accurately and on time. 5. Interview and recommend applicants for positions in the department. Counsel employees and recommend termination when necessary. 6. Implements inventory control procedures by recommending types of supplies to be ordered, quantity and timing of orders. Maintains appropriate records to track inventory levels, items ordered and related costs. 7. Ensures that all equipment is clean and in proper working condition. Recommends new equipment when required. 8. Coordinates activities with other departments ensuring meeting room set-up and furniture moving is completed accurately and on time. 9. Work closely with and motivate environmental services staff to ensure work is performed properly and personnel are following schedules (duty lists). 10. Conduct training sessions with environmental services personnel regularly and, as assigned, by the Director. 11. Prepare daily inspection reports addressing activities, projects and Quality Management assignments. 12. Maintain good public relations with all patients, residents and staff personnel. 13. Ensure that all staff maintain a high standard of personal appearance. 14. Observe cleaning and maintenance needs throughout hospital and submit written project requests as appropriate. Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required: A. High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management or related field a plus. B. Working knowledge of the Joint Commission accreditation requirements / standards. C. Minimum of three years of supervisory experiences, preferably in Hospital Based Environmental Services. D. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills. E. Demonstrated written and oral communication and problem solving skills. F. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Working knowledge of the Joint Commission accreditation requirements / standards.
