Summary/Objective: The Environmental Services (EVS) Manager is responsible for the daily operations, supervision, and performance of the Environmental Services Department. This position ensures a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for all patients, visitors, and staff and oversees compliance with all infection prevention, regulatory, and safety standards. The EVS Manager provides leadership to EVS staff, manages staffing levels, ensures proper training, monitors quality outcomes, and supports a positive patient experience. Provides direct supervision, scheduling, training, and performance management for EVS staff. Ensures all EVS cleaning procedures, including terminal cleans and isolation room protocols, are completed according to hospital standards and infection prevention guidelines. Conducts routine environmental rounds to verify compliance with cleanliness, safety, and regulatory requirements (e.g., DNV, CMS, OSHA). Develops, reviews, and maintains departmental policies, workflows, and competency requirements. Oversees supply management, including ordering, inventory control, and cost optimization. Assists in the preparation of the annual EVS departmental budget. Monitors spending, supply usage, and staffing levels throughout the year to ensure budget adherence. Identifies cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and regulatory compliance Ensures staff compliance with OSHA standards, SDS requirements, PPE procedures, and safe chemical handling. Coordinates staff education to maintain up-to-date competency in cleaning techniques and safety protocols. Collaborates with Nursing, Infection Prevention, Facilities, and other departments to address cleaning priorities and ensure timely resolution of issues. Oversee the full linen operations, including assisting in ordering, takes inventory of linens and supplies linens to areas on daily basis, par levels, and quality monitoring. Ensure timely delivery of clean linen to all departments and proper handling of soiled linen in alignment with infection prevention standards i.e. transporting soiled linen from radiology department, and emergency room to the laundry room for laundering etc. Addresses patient, visitor, and staff concerns in a professional and service-oriented manner. Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics for the EVS department and implements improvement plans as needed. Leads department meetings, maintains documentation, and supports regulatory surveys. Ensures proper use, care, and maintenance of EVS equipment and cleaning tools. Supports disaster preparedness, emergency operations, and environmental safety plans. Practices proper hand hygiene and adheres to safety regulations including OSHA, Safety Data Sheets use, and hazard communication.
