About The Position

The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational needs of the Housekeeping Department within a healthcare setting. This role involves coordinating the tasks of front-line staff, ensuring high service levels, and acting as a liaison between administration and hospital departments. The manager will also be involved in hiring, training, and supervising staff, as well as conducting inspections and reporting on departmental goals and accomplishments.

Requirements

  • Four year college degree, military experience, or equivalent work experience required
  • At least one year of supervisory experience in housekeeping or service-related field with high customer/client contact required
  • Demonstrated progressive growth in the field of health care housekeeping or facility maintenance preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing and stressful environment
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures
  • Ability to work an evening shift Monday-Friday with a weekend and holiday rotation
  • Willingness to work a 10 hour day on a regular basis

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in planning, developing, and directing logistics in a military context
  • Experience supervising a group of soldiers of 15 or more
  • Ability to troubleshoot, isolate, and identify causes of equipment malfunction
  • Experience teaching technical skills to lower grade soldiers
  • Ability to prepare costs and labor estimates

Responsibilities

  • Establish and annually review standards and work procedures for all Housekeeping staff
  • Plan work and staffing schedules to ensure adequate services are rendered
  • Assist in the hiring process, including interviewing, hiring, and training new associates
  • Orient, develop, and supervise all supervisory/housekeeping staff
  • Conduct regular inspections and make recommendations to the facility
  • Monthly reporting of goals, accomplishments, and future plans
  • Provide staff education and training
  • Communicate effectively with staff, administration, and other departments
  • Coordinate outside services such as Pest Control, Window Cleaning, Medical and Solid Waste, Document Destruction, and Recycling program
