About the position

The Support Service Associate is trained in Patient Transport, Environmental Services and Linens. Will be assigned to work area depending on department needs for the day. Responsibilities

  • Create a sanitary and safe environment that enhances the appearance of the facility by cleaning assigned areas daily.
  • Maintain hard floor surfaces through dust mopping, mopping, buffing and auto-scrubbing.
  • Maintain carpets through shampooing, extraction, gum removal and daily maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and supply par levels in EVS closets.
  • Maintain cleanliness of clean and soiled utility rooms, equipment rooms and med rooms.
  • Complete waste stream removal including general waste, recycling and infectious waste.
  • Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas via wheelchair, stretcher or beds as requested.
  • Transfers patients to or from beds, wheelchairs or stretchers, with assistance.
  • Transports patients during discharge to hospital lobby and opens doors.
  • Ensures proper oxygen levels in tanks before transporting patient.
  • Communicates to nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians or reception regarding patient's arrival and departure.
  • Moves and delivers equipment and linen carts to the appropriate staging area and depots.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Requires organizational, decisive judgment, problem solving, communications, good customer service skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks, be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed.
  • Requires three months on-the-job training and orientation to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures and patient emergency and safety procedures.
