About The Position

Heartwood is searching for an Environmental Services Director to provide leadership and operational oversight of the campus buildings, mechanical systems, and grounds of our Crosby campus to ensure a safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained environment. Supervises maintenance and housekeeping/laundry staff; manages daily facilities operations; oversees maintenance, renovations and capital projects, and assists with long-range facilities planning. As a member of the leadership team, participates in the planning and implementation of strategies and programming that assure a safe and secure environment while achieving short and long-term operational goals and objectives. Requirements

  • Able to ensure licensures are satisfied per site requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge in environmental regulatory compliance related to fire, safety, and OSHA.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with troubleshooting and repair of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, general construction, engines and landscaping equipment, floor care, boilers, and lift safety systems.
  • Minimum of two years management experience, specifically in managing two or more staff, managing at a department or supervisor level, direct budget responsibilities, managing oversight of more than one trade discipline, project management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to create Requests For Proposal, review and standardize bids, ensure vendor performance for positive budget and execution outcomes.
  • Demonstrated organizational, administrative, leadership, and prioritization skills.
  • Must have flexibility, personal integrity, and ability to work effectively with residents, coworkers, family members and the general public.
  • Computer competency in programs necessary for job success including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to fulfill all on-call requirements as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all building systems, procedures, and processes to maintain a safe environment that meets resident needs, safety issues, operational needs, and budget parameters.
  • Implement a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment.
  • Work with Regional Engineers, Campus Administrator, and contractors regarding equipment problems, service contracts, and future expansions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a complete grounds care and snow removal program.
  • Direct the housekeeping/laundry program to provide services that create a safe, sanitary, comfortable, attractive, home-like environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Participate in the development of Environmental Services and Emergency/Disaster Preparedness policies, procedures, and practices that are consistent with regulations and established best practices.
  • Lead the campus Safety Committee efforts.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with outside agencies and organizations and first responders to achieve mutually beneficial results.
  • Develop, support, and lead an effective team that achieves desired outcomes at the individual team member level as well as at the collective function level.
  • Provide for an adequate staffing model, schedule and rotation that meets customer needs and financial goals.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the annual budget for Environmental Services.
  • Manage resource allocations, including use of supplies, equipment, and labor in order to achieve or exceed operational goals.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and equipment to sustain operations.
