About The Position

The Environmental Services Associate position works night and evening shifts and is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout The Florida Aquarium (TFA) during evening hours. This role plays a critical part in supporting guest experience, staff operations, and ensuring all public, back-of-house, and animal support areas meet cleanliness and sanitation standards for the next day’s guests, staff, and special programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
  • Working knowledge of cleaning maintenance equipment, supplies, techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in guest services industry is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning of all public, staff, and operational areas, including galleries, hallways, restrooms, offices, break rooms, etc.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors (bonneting, carpet extracting, remove gum, stripping, waxing and buffing) to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Performs emergency cleaning requests by team members or customers as needed
  • Conducts regular inspections of all guest areas to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained, performing spot cleaning as necessary
  • Cleans areas using one or more of the following methods: scrubbing, sanitizing, polishing, dusting, wiping, restocking supplies and/or emptying trash receptacles
  • Assists team members in achieving customer service objectives by performing tasks as required (crowd control, information, etc.)
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, managers and fellow ES team members to meet daily cleaning timelines
  • Provides customers service needs for guests with regards to information, directions or assistance as requested
  • Delivers extraordinary customer service to all aquarium guests and internal customers
  • Complete special tasks assigned by supervisor or manager (high-dusting, cleaning baseboards, cleaning windows, etc.)
  • Maintain clean and orderly working areas, supplies, and equipment within the ES department; report any unusual smells, leaks, and/or equipment noises
  • Support special events and programs as needed
  • Supports TFA’s Shared Purpose by participating in a Conservation Day of Action shift on an annual basis
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or required
