About The Position

The Environmental Services Associate is the sole custodian of our facility, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment across the entire building. This role requires someone who takes ownership of the space, establishes their own cleaning schedule and rhythm, and consistently keeps every area presentable for staff, donors, and volunteers.

Requirements

  • Experience in janitorial, custodial, or environmental services work
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, organized spaces
  • Knowledge of cleaning products, tools, and safe handling practices
  • Dependability and consistent attendance
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift
  • Unquestionable character
  • You must have a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a background check and random drug testing.

  • Are new to formal environmental services work but take genuine pride in keeping spaces clean and organized

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain all common areas including the lunch room, kitchen, restrooms, hallways, and lobby
  • Empty trash and recycling in every office, including executive offices and conference rooms
  • Clean and sanitize shared appliances such as refrigerators and microwaves on a regular cycle
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, and spot-clean floors throughout the building
  • Dust surfaces, wipe down furniture, and clean windows and glass as needed
  • Restock restroom and kitchen supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks and report larger repair needs to the team
  • Develop and maintain a self-directed cleaning schedule that ensures all areas of the building are consistently presentable
  • Prioritize high-traffic and high-visibility areas while keeping all spaces on a regular rotation
  • Manage cleaning supply inventory and communicate reorder needs proactively
  • Adapt routines to accommodate special events, meetings, or seasonal needs
  • Follow all safety procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct that reflects the organization's values
  • Secure the building's cleanliness standards in alignment with food bank safety and health guidelines
