About The Position

The position involves providing a clean, safe, sanitary, and appealing environment at The Christ Hospital. The Environmental Services (EVS) Staff is responsible for cleaning patient areas daily with approved germicides and cleaning chemicals, ensuring patient safety, and following infection control procedures. The role requires interaction with patients, visitors, and staff to promote a service attitude and ensure satisfaction with cleaning services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 year of working experience preferred, but not required.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.
  • Basic customer service skills preferred, but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • CHEST certification within 1 year preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Clean patient rooms daily using proper chemicals and department cleaning procedures.
  • Clean non-patient areas such as nurses' stations, offices, public waiting rooms, restrooms, and other ancillary areas.
  • Terminally clean patient rooms upon patient discharge to prepare for new admissions.
  • Interact daily with patients, visitors, and staff promoting a service attitude.
  • Assure that rooms are cleaned daily to the patients' satisfaction.
  • Use scripting to ask if there is anything else that can be done for the patient.
  • Leave a housekeeper's note daily in each room including the housekeeper's name and department phone number.
  • Leave a tent card with name and a hospital packet in every patient room upon discharge cleaning.
  • Follow hospital policy and federal regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Learn and use MS Office Outlook for emails and the NaviCare system for bed tracking.
