About The Position

Join the dedicated team at MDI Hospital as a full-time Environmental Services Aide! This role offers possible shift differentials and the opportunity to play a vital part in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a commitment to health and safety standards, and an excellent work ethic. This position includes all EVS responsibilities, including OR cleaning, laundry services, and on-call coverage. Scheduled hours: Friday: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Saturday: 12-hour shift Sunday: 12-hour shift

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret work assignments.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required.
  • Previous experience as a cleaner or housekeeper preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Understanding of healthcare sanitation procedures.
  • Physical stamina and mobility.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to be on feet most of the shift.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, stoop, and reach.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Adequate vision.
  • No significant allergy to dust or cleaning supplies.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Clean patient rooms, offices, and public areas.
  • Prepare rooms for new patients.
  • Respond to emergencies regarding cleanliness.
  • Inspect rooms according to standards.
  • Notify superiors of any damage or disturbances.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, etc.).
  • Empty trash cans and replace liners.
  • Dispose of trash and recyclables properly.
  • Maintain hospital property through regular cleaning.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
  • Report any maintenance issues.
  • Transport medical waste and other infectious materials.
  • Follow hospital policies for bio-hazardous materials.
  • Handle and dispose of waste according to regulations.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in on-call schedules and cross-training.
  • Assist in event planning.
