About The Position

This position is responsible for managing effective environmental services for a hospital or group of departments and/or buildings. Position is responsible for strategic, operational, budget, and human resources for an assigned function. Directs housekeeping functions including: cleaning services in patient care areas, clinical working areas, non-clinical working areas, meeting rooms, and common areas. Ensures that services provided meet applicable department, accrediting agency standards, regulatory guidelines and laws. Supports facility infection control, Environment of Care, Green project and other facility related initiatives. Manages and supervises employees. Selects, provides feedback, completes performance evaluations and retains qualified employees. Facilitates the professional growth and development of employees. Coordinates with other managers for provision of services and provides feedback on staffing Defines performance measures, goals and objectives for areas of responsibility. Develops scorecards and reports that effectively identify progress to department and clinic scorecards and performance metrics. Identifies and effectively implements performance improvement projects and monitors quality of services provided. Resolves customer service and quality issues patient, families and internal customers. Develops and implements action to solve continuing service and quality problems. Develop and administer budgets for area of responsibility. Monitors use of resources to ensure cost-effectiveness of services provided. Oversee work scheduling and assignments. Makes inspection rounds and provides feedback to supervisors and employees. Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Education:Bachelors or 8 years of equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in hospital or health services management, demonstrating increased and/or diversified responsibility for related services.
  • Licensure,certification, and/or registration:Virginia Drivers License.
  • Position is deemed emergency personnel during emergency weather conditions.
  • Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites.
  • May be required to work at other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs.
  • Must display positive leadership skills and oral and written communication skills.
  • Must work well with all members of the hospital team, including employees, managers, administrators and physicians.
  • Must possess analytic business skills, integrity as a team player, be courteous, have ability to resolve complaints/problems, and display a customer-focused philosophy of service.
  • Must demonstrate skills in operational and human resources management.
  • Requires basic skill in Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge and experience in the selection of Green Seal Certified Products desirable.
