Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, chemistry, biology, natural resources, soil science or comparable field from an accredited school.
  • 1 to 3+ years of experience in environmental investigation and remediation.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Safety-focused, organized, and collaborative with a growth mindset.
  • Experience completing work following MPCA guidance documents.
  • Experience with EIR field testing/screening equipment typical of construction oversight and groundwater monitoring projects (e.g., PID, YSI, peristaltic pump, sub-slab vapor pin installation).
  • Experience with performing Phase I and Phase II ESAs.
  • Experience with overseeing the removal of underground storage tanks (USTs) and completing excavation reports.
  • Strong verbal communication, technical writing and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, ability to work alone or in group settings, and a demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.

Nice To Haves

  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
  • MN Asbestos and Lead Risk Assessor credentials.
  • Experience with GIS, gINT, and EDGE/EQuIS software is a plus.
  • Rail safety certifications (E-rail safe or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee environmental investigation and remediation (EIR) projects, with 50%–70% field work based on the season; remaining time in-office preparing reports.
  • Complete limited site and remedial investigations, and Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments for public and private entities, including work under Minnesota state contracts (e.g., MPCA, MDH, and MnDOT).
  • Collect environmental samples (e.g., soil, groundwater, drinking water, soil vapor, sub-slab vapor, ambient air, etc.) for laboratory analysis, construction oversight, and response action plan (RAP) implementation.
  • Support environmental monitoring, site investigations, remedial investigations, and brownfields redevelopment.
  • Tabulate environmental data and prepare technical reports.
  • Most projects are in Minnesota; some overnight travel may be required.
