Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or related field.
  • 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in environmental science.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience must include performing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data collection, modeling, and production of resource maps.
  • Must be certified divers with near-shore scientific diving experience.
  • Field work is required for this position and may include working in inclement weather, high heat conditions, walking in rough or on uneven terrain, some work in water may also be included as well as carrying field equipment that may weigh up to 20 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences or related field preferred.
  • Experience identifying and evaluating South Florida tree species is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and environmental permit applications.
  • Perform wetland delineations, wildlife habitat assessment, and other field surveys.
  • Perform Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data collection, modeling, and production of resource maps.
  • Assist in the preparation of documents following the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
  • Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples for laboratory analysis per Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Standard Procedures.
  • Perform tree surveys.
  • Assist in preparing Phase I and Phase II site assessment reports.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agency staff while preparing reports and permit applications.
  • Assist Supervisor with project compliance tracking and reporting.
  • Attend monthly teleconferences, annual workshops, and other meetings or seminars to acquire and enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities required to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
