CSS seeks to hire an Environmental Scientist to support NCCOS field and lab research as well as vessels at the Oxford, MD facility. The successful candidate will serve as the field program lead for logistics and planning, primary deckhand for the COL 55-foot research vessel "Chesapeake", member of the COL dive team, and general program support for vessels and laboratory research. Qualified candidates should be able to: Assist in the planning and conduct of scientific surveys and experiments in field and laboratory settings; Plan and coordinate logistics of field operations; Serve as primary deckhand for the RV5502 (NOAA 55ft research vessel), and vessel operator for small boat (> 25 ft) fleet; Assist Captain and Vessel Operations Coordinator with vessel maintenance, and contract preparation, procurement, and related tasks as needed; Maintain small boat fleet in accordance with NOAA Small Boat Program policy and COL guidelines; Maintain experimental tanks and systems; Enter data and assist in report and publication preparation; Obtain certification as a NOAA diver, and serve on NCCOS Dive Team; Maintain water quality monitoring station and associated telemetry and datalogger equipment;
