About The Position

We are hiring an Environmental Scientist to join an outstanding Field Services laboratory team! This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, collecting environmental samples and conducting environmental monitoring to protect water quality. You will work with customers to collect surface water, ground water, drinking water, stormwater systems and assisting in performing biological assessments by identifying aquatic invertebrate, fish, algae, and other aquatic vegetation. You will be trusted to: - Collect routine surface water, stormwater, and drinking water samples - Calibrate multiparameter probes to collect water quality data and uploading into database - Maintain and service equipment and practice chain-of-custody procedures, sample preservation and laboratory safety. - Drive large trucks and tow/operate boats of different sizes in heavy traffic situations - Collect and identify freshwater fish and collection of benthic macro invertebrates - Communicate with internal and external customers and the general public

Requirements

  • Sixteen or more college semester credit hours in biology or chemistry and four or more years of experience in environmental sampling and monitoring or other relevant experience. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree(s) in chemistry, biology, microbiology, environmental science, physical sciences or engineering may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience. A Master's or Doctoral degree(s) in the above disciplines may each be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Boat trailering and operation experience.
  • Class D or equivalent water operator license
