About The Position

SES Energy Services, LLC is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our ecological services team in Jacksonville, Florida. This position is pivotal in leading regulatory reviews focused on Section 404 and Section 10 of the Clean Water Act. The Environmental Scientist will be responsible for executing projects within the defined scope, budget, and schedule, while also performing technical work in their area of expertise. This role will be supported by a team of environmental scientists, engineers, cultural resources specialists, and other technical professionals as needed. The Environmental Scientist will act as a subject matter expert, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, SES Energy leadership, clients, regulators, and the general public. Maintaining comprehensive project records is essential, including communication logs, emails, letters, public comments, reports, references, field data sheets, and tracking sheets. The ideal candidate will possess experience navigating regulatory requirements overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife (USFWS), and various state and local regulatory agencies across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Experience in performing wetland delineations and/or hydrology studies is highly desirable, along with Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification or other relevant certifications. Familiarity with regulations such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act is also preferred. The successful candidate will be accurate, specific, structured, supportive, and thrive in a role where they are empowered to work with clients and stakeholders to achieve project objectives. This position is based in the Jacksonville, Florida office, but a hybrid or remote arrangement within the Southeast U.S. may be considered. The role requires working in various weather and environmental conditions and may necessitate working outside standard hours for travel or conducting dusk/dawn/nocturnal surveys. The position can be based out of Jacksonville, FL; Mobile, AL; or Savannah, GA.
