Requirements

  • 0-2 Years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Conservation, Ecology, Environmental Science, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Forestry or equivalent.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good communication and technical writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to maintain required certifications
  • Current state (or surrounding reciprocal state) herbicide applicator license or ability to obtain license.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internships or work experience in this industry.
  • Familiarity with GIS software
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate (sUAS) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct invasive species control using both chemical and mechanical methods.
  • Perform land management and ecological restoration activities.
  • Identify Midwest native and invasive plant species in the field.
  • Navigate restoration sites and locate key features using strong directional and spatial awareness skills.
  • Hike off-trail through dense vegetation and uneven terrain.
  • Operate field equipment and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions, including heat and areas with dense or thorny vegetation.
  • Accurately document field activities and maintain organized records.
  • Collaborate with team members across different geographic locations while also working independently when needed.
  • Drive an automatic 1500 series (half ton) pickup truck in both urban and rural environments.
  • Travel overnight Monday–Friday, including anticipated travel to Indiana once a month.
