About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to join our Remediation team based in Fort Lauderdale. We are seeking candidates who wish to pursue a career in environmental science, specific to environmental assessment and remediation projects. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about environmental remediation and will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across the Fort Lauderdale area. This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team. Please take note this role may require travel outside of the Fort Lauderdale area (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geology, Biological Science, Chemistry or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geology, Biological Science, Chemistry or related field.
  • 3+ years working in the environmental remediation industry.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Field experience including subcontractor oversight.
  • Understanding of project delivery requirements.
  • Knowledge to conduct reports with creativity, foresight, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Project management experience and developing project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.
  • Experience with application of techniques and procedures, including multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, sediment, air).

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine fieldwork working under close supervision from project managers.
  • Fieldwork may include soil, sediment, surface water and/or groundwater sampling, drilling oversight, operation and maintenance of remedial systems, and remedial construction oversight including subcontractor management.
  • Participating in site visits and coordinating and assisting field staff as required.
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Develop knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.
  • Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced project manager.
  • Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks as needed.
